Rosoline Shuts Down Illinois Institute In 6-2 Win

Auburndale, FL | The Scarlet Raiders baseball program capped off their Spring Trip winning three straight after knocking off Illinois Institute of Technology, 6-2, this morning.

Rutgers-Newark (5-4) sprinkled 12 hits and scored six runs spread across 9 innings. Luke Magliaro paved the way for the Scarlet Raiders, going 3-for-5 with an RBI and a pair of runs. Kevin Tamsula led the team with a pair of RBI while going 2-for-3 from the dish. Connor Clare was the third and final Scarlet Raider to tally multiple hits in the game, going 2-for-4 with a run.

Anthony Rosoline (2-1) picked up his second win of the season this afternoon, hurling 95 pitches in seven innings of action. Rosoline struck six out and allowed five hits before giving way to his relievers.

Dominic Magliaro put the Scarlet Raiders up early in the game after tattooing one over the outfield fence for his home run of the season. Both clubs would go scoreless over the next three innings before the Scarlet Raiders would strike again. Tamsula led the fourth inning with a single before scurting over to third on a Clare single. Tamsula attempted a double steal, however, Tamsula would be tossed out at home while Clare would reach safely. Chris Suleski hit the gap to bring Clare home to double their lead.

Rutgers-Newark added another pair in the top of the fifth inning. L. Magliaro hit a one-out triple to bring home his brother D. Magliaro from first. L. Magliaro wouldn't get much rest on third as Tamsula quickly put one into play, recording a sacrifice fly, to bring him home.

The Scarlet Hawks finally found their way onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh, scoring two runs. Illinois Tech would be stifled the rest of the way while the Scarlet Raiders would add two more runs across the final two frames.

Rutgers-Newark returns to the diamond on Tuesday, March 26 where they will travel to Madison, NJ to take on Drew University at 3:30 pm.
