#RUNMSOC Burst The Dam With 9-0 Win Over CCNY

NEWARK, NJ | An offensive outburst led by a trio of goals by Danny Tobon lifted the Scarlet Raiders to a 9-0 win over non-conference opponents, CCNY, tonight at Frederick Douglass Field. Rutgers-Newark extends their unbeaten streak to 9 in a row and improves to 9-3-2 while CCNY dropped to 3-4.

As a team, the Scarlet Raiders took 29 shots and put 18 on target, and held CCNY to 11 shots with 3 on target. Julian Randall was given the start tonight between the pipes and tallied three saves in a relatively quiet nice at the office.

After a slow start to the game, the Scarlet Raiders opened up their scoring ledger when Jagger da Silva sent a long pass to Ahmed Moawad who beat the keeper. Just three minutes later, Anthony Oliveira converted a penalty kick to double their lead. Rutgers-Newark kept their foot on the gas and went into the half with a 3-0 lead after Tobon netted his first of three off of another assist from da Silva.

Tobon wasted no time doubling his tally as he scored his second of the game just 1:12 into the second half off of a pass from Davi Alves. The Scarlet Raiders' offense found their stride in the second half and continued putting pressure on the Beavers' dam. Adonis Scotland added his name to the scoresheet when he scored the 5th of the game. Scotland's day wouldn't be over as Ryan Caruso found him again to put their team up 6-0.

The Scarlet Raiders would add three more goals before the final whistle to remain unbeaten at home this season. The men return to action on Wednesday, October 13 when they host William Paterson at 7:30 pm.
