Catania & Sencion Score In 2-0 Win Over William Paterson

NEWARK, NJ | The dynamic duo that is Franco Catania and Miguel Sencion struck again tonight as they each tallied a goal and an assist to keep the Scarlet Raiders undefeated in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play with a 2-0 win over William Paterson. With the win, the Scarlet Raiders improved to 10-3-2, 4-0-2 while the Pioneers dropped to 4-8-2, 0-5-1.

As a team, the Scarlet Raiders took 24 shots and put 9 on target while holding the Pioneers to just six shots with Andres Medina having to make a pair of saves. Catania and Sencion each took eight shots with Catania leading the way with five on target.

Sencion came out aggressive to start the game, firing off three shots in the first five minutes. William Paterson nearly took an early lead when Opeoluwa Olaloko hit a low shot that was kicked off of the goal line and away from harm. After clearing the ball, Catania made his way into William Paterson's 18-yard box and slotted a pass-through to Sencion. He was then able to hit it into the top right corner to open the scoring ledger for the night.

Just 9 minutes later, Sencion returned the favor to Catania, beating a few defenders along the end line and finding Catania in the middle of the 6-yard box. Catania easily tapped it into the back of the net for his 16th goal of the year and to give the Scarlet Raiders a 2-0 lead.

Rutgers-Newark kept the tempo up, however, they were unable to add another tally to their total as they'd go on to move into second place in the NJAC with the win.

The men return to action on Saturday, October 16 where they will take on Stockton University at 1:00 pm in Galloway, NJ.
