Men's Soccer Releases 2021 Schedule

NEWARK, NJ | The Rutgers University-Newark men's soccer squad will hit the pitch for the first time since 2019 this September with head coach Kevin East at the helm for his 14th season. The Scarlet Raiders have 19 regular-season games on their docket with 12 of them taking place at Frederick Douglass Field which will welcome fans once again.

The men open the year with three straight road contests, highlighted by the opening game of the 2021 campaign against Stevens in Hoboken, NJ. The Scarlet Raiders last played against the Ducks in 2019 when Stevens came to Frederick Douglass Field ranked #19 in the country and left with a narrow 2-1 win.

Rutgers University-Newark will open home play against The City College of New York on Wednesday, September 8 at 7:30 pm. Their last meeting came in 2019 where the Scarlet Raiders pushed the Beavers aside with an 8-0 win. Next up, the men's soccer program will hold its annual Brick City Classic with this year's participants being Moravian, Penn State Behrend, and TCNJ.

After a bout with Marywood on Wednesday, September 15, the Scarlet Raiders open NJAC play against The College of New Jersey at 7:30 PM. In 2019 the Scarlet Raiders knocked off the Lions 2-1 at home and will look for a similar result this season. After that, the Scarlet Raiders will continue NJAC play with two of the next four in the confines of their home field. New Jersey City University, Rutgers-Newark's NJAC rivals, will step on Frederick Douglass Field on Wednesday, September 29 before RUN host Ramapo College just three days later.

A non-conference game against Drew University will break up conference action before the Scarlet Raiders return to the thick of it against a three-game stretch against Kean, William Paterson, and Stockton, two of which are on the road. Another stop in NJAC play occurs on Tuesday, October 19 when the Scarlet Raiders host Wheaton College (Ill.) before taking Rutgers-Camden and Montclair for the final two regular-season contests.

The NJAC Championship Tournament starts on Saturday, October 30 with the Semifinal occurring on Tuesday, November 2, and the Championship on Friday, November 5.
