McLaughlin Tabbed NJAC Rookie of the Week

PITMAN, NJ | The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) announced its weekly awards this afternoon and for the second week in a row, the women's soccer team had a player on that list.

Katie McLaughlin was named NJAC Rookie of the Week.

McLaughlin started her first career game off with an outstanding performance against Wilkes on Saturday. Wilkes made a late push looking to tie the game, however, due to the heroics of McLaughlin they were unable to do so. Wilkes looked poised to tie the game up when they broke through on a breakaway, but McLaughlin was up to the challenge and made a kick save to keep Wilkes off of the board. Then, late in the second half, she had to make a one-handed flying save after a chip attempt to the far post almost found its way into the net. McLaughlin backed up that performance with yet another shutout, this time on the road against Bryn Mawr. In her two games, she had to make 12 saves and is 2-0 in her first two collegiate starts.

McLaughlin will put her shutout streak on the line against Brooklyn College on Wednesday, September 15 at 4:00 pm in Brooklyn, NY.
