Horton Scores 23 As #RUNWBB Downs Rutgers-Camden

Box Score CAMDEN, NJ | Samiyah Horton returned to the court and poured in 23 points as the Scarlet Raiders ended their 11-game losing skid tonight with a 77-67 point win over their counterparts to the south, Rutgers-Camden.

Rutgers-Newark (4-13, 2-12) shot 44.6% from the floor as Ebony Odom Barnes notched a 10 point, 13 rebound outing with Brya Byrd contributing 11 points in 28 minutes of action. Syncere Lambert added four rebounds and 14 points in the win.

Rutgers-Camden (2-11 1-11) was led by Rahzirah Blocker's 22 points while Jalissa Pitts paved the way with six rebounds.

The Scarlet Raiders started on the right foot, taking the first quarter 18-13. After trailing by a pair with 1:44 remaining in the first quarter, Rutgers-Newark ripped off an 8-1 run to take a lead into the second stanza. Rutgers-Camden rallied in the second, pouring in 26 points to take a 39-34 lead into the half.

Coming out of the half hasn't been the strongest quarter for the Scarlet Raiders this season, however, Rutgers-Newark came out with a point to prove and did just that. The Scarlet Raiders tallied their highest mark of the game in the third, 23 points, to vault themselves into the lead with just one quarter to play.

With a seven-point lead heading into the final quarter, the Scarlet Raiders held onto their lead and put up another 20-point quarter to seal the win over Rutgers-Camden.
