#RUNMBB Bounce Back With a 66-60 NJAC Win Over Rowan

GLASSBORO, NJ | Quincy Rutherford poured in 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the floor to help the Scarlet Raiders bounce back with a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) win over Rowan University, 66-60.

Rutgers-Newark (9-4, 6-1) outside of Rutherford, Abe Kromah scored 15 points while Jamir Patterson added 9. Kelvin Marshall led the team with 9 rebounds. Rowan (11-2, 5-2) was led by Josh Wright who scored 23 points while D'Andre Pantovic led the way with 11 rebounds.

The Profs and Scarlet Raiders took turns owning the lead for the opening 11 minutes of the game. Down one, Rutherford cashed in from behind the arc to ignite a 9-0 run for the Scarlet Raiders to push their lead out to eight. A Jumper by Wright broke Rowan's scoring drought, however, the Scarlet Raiders remained hot and answered with a 12-0 run which gave them an 18 point lead with 38 seconds remaining in the half. Rowan would hit four free throws before heading into the locker room which cut the lead down to 14.

Rutgers-Newark held on to their double-digit lead for the first 12 minutes of the second half. With four-minute remaining, the Scarlet Raiders saw their lead cut all the way down to just a pair. A pair of free throws for Kromah followed by a jumper gave the Scarlet Raiders some breathing room before Rowan cut the lead down to four with 50 seconds left on the clock.

The Profs were unable to find the bottom of the net for the remainder of the game as the Scarlet Raiders' suffocating defense made it hard for the Profs to get any quality looks at the basket.
