Maynor Paces #RUNWVB With 8 Kills in Loss to William Paterson

NEWARK, NJ | The Rutgers University-Newark women's volleyball dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) contest to William Paterson, 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-14). Rutgers-Newark dropped to 0-14 while William Paterson improved to 9-11, 1-4.

The Scarlet Raiders had their best hitting percentage of the match in the opening set, recording a percentage of .259. The Scarlet Raiders tallied 9 kills, however, it wasn't enough as William Paterson used a 5-1 run to stretch their lead out over the Scarlet Raiders. Rutgers-Newark wasn't able to string together enough points to overcome the Pioneers

In the second set, William Paterson jumped ahead early but the Scarlet Raiders regained the lead halfway through the set with a 5-0 run. On that run, Kaiel Maynor picked up a pair of kills with Stefani Talevska adding one of her own. Ahead by three, William Paterson went on a 9-1 run to close out the second set and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Saniyiah Richardson got the Scarlet Raiders on the right foot in the third set as she forced attacking errors to put her squad ahead 9-8. The Pioneers responded with a lengthy run once again to put themselves in the driver's seat.
