#RUNMSOC Drops NJAC Clash to Ramapo

MAHWAH, NJ | Pablo Moreno scored his third goal of the season in this afternoon's New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) loss to Ramapo, 2-1. The loss drops the Scarlet Raiders to  6-6-4, 3-2-2 while Ramapo improves to 3-6-3, 3-2-2.

As a team, the Scarlet Raiders tallied 23 (8) shots and held Ramapo to 10 (4), however, Ramapo made the most of their chances to find the back of the net twice.

Rutgers-Newark struck first in the 25th minute. Moreno took a pass from Juwan Ash and beat Nikolai Matthews to put the Scarlet Raiders up 1-0 in the first half. Matthews was plenty busy in the first half and was forced to make six saves to prevent the Scarlet Raiders from increasing their lead. Towards the end of the half, the Scarlet Raiders unleashed a flurry of shots, looking to increase their lead heading into the locker room.

In the second half, Rutgers-Newark came out of the gate how the left off the first half, registering three shots in the opening three minutes. The Roadrunners continued to absord wave after wave of attacks by the Scarlet Raiders and eventually knotted the game up at one in the 82nd minute. Juan Uribe picked up his second goal of the season when he beat Christian Andrach off of a pass from Jake Szatkowski. Franco Catania almost put the Scarlet Raiders ahead at the 88:03 mark but his shot bounced off of the post and away from harm. Ramapo, with 12 seconds remaining, took advantage of a defensive miscue by the Scarlet Raiders to  steal three crucial NJAC points after Ederson La Torre found the back of the net to seal the win for the Roadrunners.
