Joe Alba Scores as #RUNMSOC Draws Rowan

NEWARK, NJ | The Scarlet Raiders and Profs played to a 2-2 draw Sunday evening at Frederick Douglass Field. Franco Catania increased his goal total on the year to 11 while Joe Alba opened the scoring with his first goal of the season. The draw moves the Scarlet Raiders to 5-3-3, 2-0-1, while Rowan went to 5-4-3, 0-1-2. 

Rowan opened their scoring ledger five minutes into tonight's NJAC contest when Alex Ferrara hit his corner kick into the box and found the head of Ryan Cleary. After the goal, the Scarlet Raiders found their groove and started spending a majority of the game in Rowan's final third. The constant pressure gave the Scarlet Raiders a free-kick right outside the 18-yard box. Standing over the ball were Jonah Dias and Joe Alba, however, it was Alba who hit a low curling shot into the far post to knot the game up at one. 

Franco Catania almost the Scarlet Raiders up 2-1 in the second half, but saw his header attempt bounce off of the post and bounce away from harm. With 17 minutes left in the game, Gil Ferreira corralled a loose ball in the box and beat Christian Andrach to put the Profs up 2-1. Rowan wouldn't hold onto the lead for long as the magic of Catania struck again. From 29-yards out on the left side of the box, Catania curled in a high arcing shot into the top right corner to tie the game 2-2. 

The Scarlet Raiders threw everything they had at the net towards the end but were unable to take the lead as the game ended in a draw for their first NJAC draw of the season.
