Rutgers-Newark Women's Volleyball Stumbles Against Farmingdale, 3-0

FARMINGDALE, NY | Alexa Rivera paced the Scarlet Raiders women's volleyball team with eight kills, however, Rutgers-Newark fell in straight sets to non-conference opponents Farmingdale, 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-13). The loss drops the Scarlet Raiders to 0-13 on the year while Farmingdale improves to 7-7.

Jackie Rosario powered the Scarlet Raiders with 13 assists and Saniyiah Richardson was the defensive catalyst, registering 10 digs. Farmingdale took control of the opening set early on, using a 7-0 run to stretch their lead to 16-5. Rutgers-Newark, powered by a pair of kills by Rivera, tried to make a comeback at the end with a 6-0 run but they were too far behind to close the gap.

The Scarlet Raiders once again tallied six kills in the second set but they would go on to fall 25-13. Farmingdale had their best performance of the match, hitting .345 with 13 kills. Once again, the Rams used a series of runs to grab hold of the set and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

In the third and final set, the Scarlet Raiders fell behind and Farmingdale closed out the set with a long run.
