#RUNMBB's Offense Goes Cold as Mount Saint Mary Wins, 68-60

NEWBURGH, NY | The Rutgers University-Newark men's basketball dropped a non-conference bout to Mount Saint Mary College, 68-60. The loss moves the Scarlet Raiders to 2-8 while the Knights improved to 4-7.

Levi Holton led the Scarlet Raiders with 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting and seven rebounds while Tony Godwin added 13 points and two steals.

Through the first eight minutes of the game, play went back-and-forth until Holton cashed in from range to put Rutgers-Newark up 13-10. Mount Saint Mary, however, responded with a 7-0 run which put them in the lead. Jordan Salisbury tied the game up at 21 with 5:19 remaining but the Knights took a small, four point lead, after a three-point basket and free throw found the bottom of the net. Rutgers-Newark went into the locker room down four.

In the second half, Mount Saint Mary remained in front until the 14 minute mark where NJAC Rookie of the Week, Shy'Heed Jenkins-Floyd converted a layup to knot the game up at 41. Chimdi Eboh pushed Rutgers-Newark's lead out to four with a jumper on an assist from Jenkins-Floyd. Rutgers-Newark remained in the lead until there was 2:16 remaining on the clock when Mount Saint Mary tied it up at 60. For the last two minutes, the Scarlet Raiders' offense went quiet as the Knights scored eight straight points to close out the game and secure the win.
