Kromah Ties Career-High in 68-52 Win Over TCNJ

EWING, NJ | The Rutgers University-Newark men's basketball program returned to the win column Wednesday night with a 68-52 win over the College of New Jersey.

Rutgers-Newark (16-8, 13-5) stifled TCNJ's offense in the first half, holding them to just 14 points. Abe Kromah tied his career-high 24 points in the win, shooting 8-for-14 from the field while adding a team-high 9 rebounds. Quincy Rutherford added 15 points while Dante Ralph tallied 9. Levi Holton padded his stat sheet tonight and scored eight points with seven rebounds while shooting 80% from the floor. 
 
TCNJ (9-13, 6-12) was led by Jason Larranaga with 16 points while Anthony DiCaro added 12 in support. On the boards, it was Jacob Hopping tied for the team lead with five rebounds.

The Scarlet Raiders erupted in the first 10 minutes of the first half, jumping out to a substantial 24-6 lead. Rutgers-Newark kept the Lions at bay and eventually pushed their lead out to a game-high 23 points on a good free throw by Ralph. The College of New Jersey finally cracked double digits with 2:26 to go and went into the locker room trailing by 19.

In the second half, the Lions finally figured out the Scarlet Raiders' defense which allowed them to cut the lead down to 9 with 11:45 to go. Rutgers-Newark, however, regained their stride and brought their lead back to the double digits. With momentum fully back on their side, they would go to to close out the game on an 8-3 run.

The Scarlet Raiders will now head to the NJAC Tournament where they will host on Tuesday at 7:00 pm.
