NEWARK, NJ | The Rutgers University-Newark women's basketball team hosted Rowan University tonight and fell 73-47 at The Golden Dome.

Rutgers-Newark (4-15, 2-13) was led offensively by Samiyah Horton's 17 points while Syncere Lambert added 11. Ebony Odom Barnes and Tracey Ilderis each tallied eight rebounds for the Scarlet Raiders.

Rowan (14-7, 11-3) had three players score in double-digits with Dakota Adams leading the way with a 13-point, 13-rebound double-double. Nicole Mallard and Kate Herlihy added 11 and 10, respectively.

The Scarlet Raiders struggled to start the game against Rowan, scoring just one point while Rowan scored 19. The Profs' defense made it hard for the Scarlet Raiders to find the bottom of the net, however, it was Brya Byrd who ended the dry spell with 3:46 to go, hitting 1-of-2 from the charity stripe.

Rutgers-Newark got their offense moving in the second stanza, recording 13 points.

The women have typically struggled in the third quarter this season, however, tonight, it was their best quarter, securing 18 points, tying Rowan for the quarter. Rowan responded with their best quarter of the game in the fourth, tallying 22 points which shut the door on any comeback attempt by the Scarlet Raiders.
