NEWARK, NJ | The Rutgers University-Newark men's basketball team found themselves on the wrong side of the score tonight against third-placed Rowan University. The Profs led wire-to-wire and knocked the Scarlet Raiders down a peg with the 80-65 loss.

Rutgers-Newark (14-7, 11-4) was led by Abe Kromah, who had the second-best game of the season, with 21 points. Levi Holton and Jamir Patterson added 13 and 11 points, respectively. Both Kromah and Holton tallied double-doubles tonight with Kromah pulling down 12 rebounds and Holton grabbing 13.

Rowan (18-4, 11-4) had four players score in double-digits with Josh Wright pacing the team with 21 in just 17 minutes of action. Damian Smith paced the team with eight rebounds.

The Profs came out strong against the Scarlet Raiders tonight, opening the game with a 7-2 run. Holton cashed in on a corner three with 12:36 to bring the Scarlet Raiders within two. Rutgers-Newark would keep it within arms reach until the final minute where Rowan went on an 8-3 run to head into the locker room with a 12 point lead.

Out of the break, the Scarlet Raiders were still unable to crack Rowan's defense or slow down their offense.
