NEWARK, NJ | The Rutgers-Newark baseball team took care of business today in their final New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) doubleheader of the season against the Ospreys of Stockton University, 8-4, 8-4.

Before the games, the Scarlet Raiders honored their five seniors, Anthony Ricardo, Daniel Reardon, Jamir Ramos, Lisandro Ulerio and Chris Suleski.

Game 1: Rutgers-Newark 8, Stockton 4

Chris Suleski continued his red-hot season for the Scarlet Raiders (15-18, 5-12) on senior day as he finished 3-for-4 with an RBI in the win. Fellow senior, Lisandro Ulerio added a pair of hits to go along with his 2 RBIs while Jon Rosado went 2-for-4 with an RBI. On the mound, Liam Winslow (3-2) picked up the win, throwing 1.1 innings and striking out one batter before Vince Taylor came in to pick up his 2nd save of the season.

The Scarlet Raiders plated three runs spread between the 2nd and 3rd innings to take a 3-0 lead through the first three innings. Stockton put their first tally on the board in the top of the 5th which was answered by the Scarlet Raiders in the bottom of the frame.

Stockton then plated three runs in the top of the 7th to tie the game up with just two frames to play.

Rutgers-Newark opened the flood gates in the bottom of the 8th when Matthew Rypkema hit an RBI triple followed by an RBI double by Jon Rosado. To cap of the scoring for the Scarlet Raiders, Eric Recchia singled through the right side to score both Rosado and Ulerio.

Backed by the four-run inning, the Scarlet Raiders brought out their closer Taylor to shut Stockton's offense down. Taylor did just that, nearly striking out the Osprey's in just 9 pitches to close out game one.

Game 2: Rutgers-Newark 8, Stockton 4

Rutgers-Newark (16-18, 6-12) once again used a late rally to complete the sweep against Stockton. The Scarlet Raiders used 11 hits to plate eight runs. Leading the charge was Robert Gonzalez as he went 4-for-4 with an RBI while Dario Morales picked up a pair of RBIs on one hit. Justin Kahn (1-1) earned the win for the Scarlet Raiders while Taylor picked up another save.

Stockton (16-23-1, 6-12) saw their bats cool off after the 4th inning as they tallied 9 hits and committed four errors as a team. Robbie Ford paced the team with three hits and an RBI while Dylan Sakele (3-2) picked up the loss.

The Scarlet Raiders got off to hot start, scoring two runs in the first and one in the 2nd to take an early lead over their NJAC foes. After Stockton took the lead in the 4th Rutgers-Newark tied the game up in the 6th.

Once again Rutgers-Newark exploded for three runs in the 7th ignited by a Dario Morales 2 RBI single followed by a sacrifice fly by Rypkema. Recchia added another tally to the Scarlet Raiders' total in the 8th with a sacrifice fly to increase their lead to 8-4.

Just like in game one, the Scarlet Raiders brought out their closer Taylor who was able to get the Ospreys out in order to close out the game.
