Dias & Catania Each Score a Brace in 4-0 Win Over Marywood

SCRANTON, PA | Jonah Dias and Franco Catania each tallied a brace in the 4-0 win over Marywood to improve to 2-2-2 on the year while Marywood dropped to 2-3. 

Pablo Moreno gifted Catania a glorious through ball that beat the offsides trap, sending Catania free on goal. Catania, the dangerous striker that he is, made no mistake and placed it into the top left corner to put the Scarlet Raiders up 1-0. Four minutes later, the Scarlet Raiders struck again when Catania converted a penalty kick.

The scoring continued for the Scarlet Raiders as Erick Morales picked out Dias at the back post with a free-kick where Dias was able to easily tap it in to take a commanding 3-0 into the break. Rutgers-Newark kept the pressure on as they tallied 12 shots in the first half while holding Marywood to just two. 

In the second half, Dias struck again early on after Giovanni Zangiacomi hit a corner kick into the middle of the box where Dias corralled the loose ball and tucked it into the back of the net.  Once again the Rutgers-Newark offensive machine was on display as they tallied another 15 shots for a total of 27 on the night.
