#RUNWVB Loses to Kean on the Road, 3-0

UNION, NJ | The Rutgers University women's volleyball squad squared off against Kean University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) showdown and fell 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-17). The loss drops the Scarlet Raiders to 0-10, 0-3 while Kean improved to 8-7, 4-0.

The Scarlet Raiders and Cougars went back and forth in the opening set of tonight's match. With the set close, the Cougars hopped in front and went on to take a 1-0 lead in the match after going on a 9-4 run. The Scarlet Raiders tallied six kills and held the Cougars to eight.

Despite seeing an uptick in kills for the Scarlet Raiders, they were unable to topple the Cougars in the second set. Kean recorded their second-highest kill tally of the match, with 14 to go up 2-0. As a team, the Scarlet Raiders hit 0.154, however, the late run by Kean stifled Rutgers-Newark's claim to the second set.

In the third, the Cougars had their second best hitting performance of the night, hitting .209 and recording 15 kills. After swapping points early on,
Kean ripped off a 12-3 run to cruise to the third set win of the match.
