Late Goal By Babson Downs #RUNMSOC in Season Opener

EWING, NJ | The Scarlet Raiders closed out day one of the TCNJ Men's Soccer Classic against Babson this evening. Babson used a late goal to take a 3-2 victory over the Scarlet Raiders. Rutgers-Newark falls to 0-1 while Babson improved to 1-0. 

Babson was first on the board after converting a kick from the spot just 10 minutes into the game. Down 1-0, Erick Morales stepped up and converted a free kick three minutes later to level the playing field on the road. After the goal, the Scarlet Raiders' offense stalled, firing off one shot from Franco Catania in a 17-minute span. 

During that span, Babson doubled their tally when Mitchell Collins snuck his shot past Christian Andrach for the second goal of the game. 

After the break, defender Jonah Dias knotted the game up at two when he cleaned up a loose ball in the box. Babson's offense tallied seven shots in the second half alone and with 10 minutes remaining they broke the deadlock when Ben Williams found the back of the net to put his team up one. 

The Scarlet Raiders were unable to muster up another offensive attack as Babson would hold onto the lead to pick up the win.

Rutgers-Newark returns to the pitch tomorrow when they take on Farmingdale State for the second day of the TCNJ Men's Soccer Classic.
