Catania Scores a Brace as #RUNMSOC Downs Farmingdale, 4-1

EWING, NJ | Franco Catania scored a brace as the Scarlet Raiders defeated Farmingdale College, 4-1, to improve to 1-1 on the year while the Rams dropped to 0-3. 

The opening stanza of the bout between Rutgers-Newark and Farmingdale produced three goals with the Scarlet Raiders on the heavier end. Franco Catania picked up his first tally of the season when fellow senior Joe Alba found him in the box where he headed it into the bottom left side of the net. 

10 minutes late the Scarlet Raiders were the beneficiaries of an own goal, doubling their mark to give them a 2-0 lead. Catania kept the pressure on and recorded two more shots but was denied on both. The Rams found an opening right before half and made the most of their chance and put the ball under Christian Andrach to cut their deficit in half.

Catania found the back of the net for the second time this season after the break to put the Scarlet Raiders up 3-1. Catania's day wasn't over as he would, with 10 minutes left, feed Patrick O'Dwyer a pass in the air for him to head in.

Farmingdale was unable to beat Andrach for the rest of the game as the Scarlet Raiders took the convincing 4-1 win.
