Three Score 12 Points as Women's Basketball Falls to TCNJ

EWING, NJ | Elisha India Cross, Ebony Odom Barnes, and Samiyah Horton each scored 12 points as they lost their New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) bout to The College of New Jersey on Wednesday afternoon, 72-50. The loss dropped the Scarlet Raiders to 3-12, 1-8 while TCNJ improved 11-4, 6-2.

The Lions used a powerful 26 point opening quarter to take a 26-13 lead after the first stanza and then followed that up with another 18 points. The Scarlet Raiders offense slowed down in the second quarter as they were held to a game-low seven points. Out of the break, Horton and Odom Barnes found the bottom of the net to get Rutgers-Newark's offense moving in the right direction. TCNJ, however, was able to match the Scarlet Raiders' offensive output to take a 28-point lead into the final quarter of play.

Rutgers-Newark found success in the fourth quarter and scored 20 points, their highest quarter of the game. Their highest output of the game allowed the Scarlet Raiders to cut the lead down to 20 but time was against them as they weren't able to overcome their first half deficit.
