Lambert Scores 15 in NJAC Loss to Rutgers-Camden

NEWARK, NJ | The Scarlet Raiders and Scarlet Raptors battled at The Golden Dome on Saturday evening with Rutgers-Camden coming out on top, 73-57. The loss drops the Scarlet Raiders to 3-17, 1-12 and the Scarlet Raptors improved to 3-17, 1-12 with the win.

Syncere Lambert led the Scarlet Raiders with 15 points and added five rebounds while Sanaa Brodie and Ebony Odom Barnes each tallied eight points. For the Scarlet Raptors, Jalissa Pitts scored a game-high 27 points and recorded her 1,000th career point in the win.

The Scarlet Raiders came out strong in the opening quarter of play using a 15-5 run to burst open the game in their favor. The Scarlet Raptors wouldn't remain dormant for the entire first quarter as they began to find the bottom of the net to bring them within six before the end of the quarter.

Rutgers-Newark's offense cooled off in the second quarter, scoring just 15 points after scoring 22 the quarter prior. That left an opening for Rutgers-Camden to close the gap which they did after outscoring the Scarlet Raiders 21-15. After leading for most of the first half, the Scarlet Raiders and Scarlet Raptors went into the locker room deadlocked at 37.

Out of the break, the Scarlet Raptors went on an 14-3 run which propelled them into the lead, 51-40. Syncere Lambert gave the Scarlet Raiders life with a three-point basket to end the third.

That basket, however, wasn't enough to spark the Scarlet Raiders' offense as the Scarlet Raptors offense remained hot until the final horn.
