Men's Soccer Plays to 0-0 Draw Against Rutgers-Camden

NEWARK, NJ | The Rutgers University-Newark men's soccer team played Rutgers University-Camden to a 0-0 draw this evening at Frederick Douglass Field.

Rutgers-Newark (4-7-4, 2-2-2) tallied 18 (6) shots tonight and held Rutgers-Camden (8-5-3, 3-1-2) to 5 (0).

In the first half, the Scarlet Raiders spent most of the half in Rutgers-Camden's final third but were unable to break down the defensive unit and find the opening goal of the game. Rutgers-Newark edged out Rutgers-Camden 9-3 in shots in the opening stanza with three being put on frame.

The Scarlet Raiders came out strong in the second half and kept the pressure on, but Rutgers-Camden's defense was up to the task as they continued to absorb wave after wave of attacks. Jonah Dias had an opportunity to put Rutgers-Newark ahead via a free kick, however, he saw his attempt glide off of the crossbar. With 13 minutes to go, Michael Reis had a golden chance off of a cross, but Sean Boen made the one-handed save to keep the Scarlet Raiders off of the board.

Rutgers-Newark returns to action on Wednesday, October 18 when they host Ramapo College at 7:00 pm.
