Ettayebi Scores in Loss to #13 TCNJ

EWING, NJ | Leila Ettayebi notched her third goal of the season in a 9-1 defeat to the 13th-ranked Lions of The College of New Jersey on Saturday morning. 

Rutgers-Newark (5-8, 1-3) put half of its shots on target in the loss while Katie McLaughlin made 13 saves in the game. 

The College of New Jersey opened the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) bout against Rutgers-Newark in the first eight minutes when Sophie Vieira beat McLaughlin. The Scarlet Raiders wouldn't have to wait long for their equalizer as Ettayebi took a pass from Tamia Howell and snuck the shot past Bella Norman which was just the second goal she has allowed all season. The draw would not last long as the Lions broke the deadlock just two minutes later. 

TCNJ added two more goals before the break, using 21 shots to score four first-half goals. The Lions kept the pressure on in the second half where they tallied another five to set the Scarlet Raiders back 9-1. 

Rutgers-Newark returns to action on Wednesday, October 11 when they host #9 Montclair at 7:00 p.m.
