Women's Basketball Struggles Against Bridgewater, 80-28

BRIDGEWATER, VA | Ebony Odom Barnes tallied a team-high 15 points in the 80-28 loss to Bridgewater College in the Bridgewater Tip-Off Classic.

Rutgers-Newark (1-1) tallied 28 rebounds as a team while Arlenny Medina added 10 points. Bridgewater (2-0) was led by Abby Freeman's 11 points and Jaiden Polston's 13 rebounds.

The Scarlet Raiders got off to a slow start against Bridgewater as they tallied just two points in the opening stanza. Rutgers-Newark rebounded in the second with 12 points, however, Bridgewater also had their best quarter with 23 points.

Out of the break, Medina cut the lead down to 30 with a jumper but the Scarlet Raiders were not able to build off of that success as their offense would go cold again.

Rutgers-Newark was not able to close the gap on Bridgewater and will head into Sunday looking to right the ship against Alvernia at 2:00 p.m.
