Men's Basketball Wins Second Straight With 63-46 Win Over FDU-Florham

MADISON, NJ | Pascal Dodard tallied a team-high 14 points in the 63-46 win over the Devils of FDU-Florham on Wednesday night.

Rutgers-Newark (2-1) forced a season-high 27 turnovers which turned into 29 points for the Scarlet Raiders. Levi Holton added 12 points in 20 minutes of action while Russell Ayala dished out a team-high five assists and scored 11 points. Travis Miles was effective on the boards and led the team with 9 rebounds. FDU-Florham (1-3) tallied a game-high 44 rebounds led by Carson Woods' 10.

The Scarlet Raiders jumped out to a quick lead behind a 12-0 opening run capped by a Preston Brown three-point basket. The Devils found its first point of the game at the 14-minute mark from the charity stripe which sparked its offense. FDU-Florham cut the lead down to four with 7:43 to go, however, the Scarlet Raiders used a 9-0 run to push them comfortably into the lead. NJAC Rookie of the Week, Ayden Brown, sent the Scarlet Raiders into the locker room with an 11-point lead after hitting a three-point bucket at the buzzer.

In the second half, the Scarlet Raiders kept the Devils at bay and bumped its lead up to 14 behind a Miles jumper. With 8:34 to go, Marshall put Rutgers-Newark ahead by 16 over FDU-Florham. As time continued to tick away, the Scarlet Raiders forced FDU-Florham into low-quality shots allowing them to hold onto the victory and pick up their second win of the season.

Rutgers-Newark returns to action on Saturday, November 18 when they host USMMA at 2:00 p.m.
