Jenkins-Floyd Tallies Career-High 20 Points in Loss to Stockton

GALLOWAY, NJ | The Rutgers-Newark men's basketball team fell on the road to Stockton, 75-64, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) showdown.

Rutgers-Newark (4-5, 1-3) was led by Shy'Heed Jenkins-Floyd's career-high 20 points while Pascal Dodard and Jamir Patterson led the team with six rebounds. Stockton (5-3, 3-1) shot 40% from three-point range and picked up 20 points from Tayvon Gaither.

Ten minutes into the game, Stockton had stretched its lead out to 10 over the Scarlet Raiders as Rutgers-Newark's offense struggled early on. The Ospreys further extended its lead with an offensive barrage where they scored 14 points while holding Rutgers-Newark to just seven. Jenkins-Floyd helped chip away at the lead as the first half came to a close, hitting a pair of jumpers to send his team into the locker room down 12.

In the second half, Jenkins-Floyd kept the momentum going and was able to bring the Scarlet Raiders within eight points. Much like the first half, Stockton would pull away, extending their lead to 17. However, Rutgers-Newark wouldn't go quietly as they chopped the lead down to six with 9:20 to play. Unfortunately for the Scarlet Raiders, the run would stop there as Stockton pulled back ahead and held on to pick up the crucial NJAC win.

Rutgers-Newark returns to action on Saturday, December 9 when they host Rutgers-Camden at 6:00 p.m.
