Holton Tallies Career-High in 75-59 Win Over Rutgers-Camden

NEWARK, NJ | Levi Holton scored a career-high 23 points in the 75-59 win over Rutgers-Camden at The Golden Dome on Saturday evening.

Rutgers-Newark (5-5, 2-3) shot 43.8% from the field and 40% from three while Travis Miles and Jamir Patterson tallied 13 and 11 points, respectively. Rutgers-Camden (4-6, 1-4) was held to 34% shooting from the field and 22% from three.

Levi Holton electrified the crowd and knotted the game up at 11 with a fast break dunk. Rutgers-Camden quickly jumped back ahead, however, the Scarlet Raiders would regain the lead shortly after via a Pascal Dodard free-throw. The Scarlet Raiders would then go on a 9-1 run led by Jamir Patterson who had three points during that run. Dodard built off of that run and pushed the Scarlet Raiders' lead out to 10, a lead they would carry into the break.

The Scarlet Raiders remained stout in the second half, tallying a game-high 41 points. In the second half, the Scarlet Raptors came as close as eight points down the stretch before Preston Brown put Rutgers-Newark ahead by double digits once again. Once in the lead by double digits, the Scarlet Raiders didn't allow Rutgers-Camden to chip away at that lead as they would coast to the win behind solid defensive play.

The Scarlet Raiders return to action on Wednesday, December 13 when they travel to Wayne, NJ to take on William Paterson.
