GALLOWAY, NJ | The Rutgers University-Newark women's basketball squad's losing skid continued Wednesday night when they dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) to Stockton, 66-40.

Rutgers-Newark (1-8, 0-4) was led by Samiyah Horton's 15 points while Aliyah Sanchez led the team with five rebounds. Stockton (6-3, 4-0) shot 43.1% from the floor and was led by Trina Deveny-Bethea (16 points).

The Scarlet Raiders powered out to a 9-6 lead behind seven points from Horton. The Ospreys responded with a 17-2 run to end the quarter and comfortably put themselves in the lead. Rutgers-Newark would rebound in the second and cut the lead down to 11, however, Stockton would pull away once again to carry a 20-point lead into the locker room.

In the second half, the Scarlet Raiders were not able to overcome their deficit despite matching Stockton with 15 points in the third. The Scarlet Raiders' offense slowed in the fourth, scoring just eight points as Stockton secured the NJAC win.

Rutgers-Newark returns to action on Saturday, December 9 when they host Rutgers-Camden at 4:00 p.m.
