Women's Basketball Drops NJAC Game to Rowan

GLASSBORO, NJ | The Rutgers University-Newark women's basketball squad dropped their New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) bout against Rowan this afternoon, 83-41. With the loss, the Scarlet Raiders fell to 3-21, 1-16 while the Profs improved to 16-8, 12-5. 

Samiyah Horton and Syncere Lambert paced the Scarlet Raiders with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Lambert also led the way with a team-high eight rebounds and four assists. 

Rowan's offense got off to a hot start scoring 15 while holding the Scarlet Raiders to just two in the opening four minutes of play. Horton broke into the paint and cashed in on a jumper to get the ball rolling for Rutgers-Newark. Rowan would take a 29-13 lead into the second quarter where they would continue to extend their lead. 

In the second half, the Scarlet Raiders got off to a slow start in the third quarter before having their highest scoring output of the game in the 4th with 15 points. Rutgers-Newark, despite scoring 15 points, were unable to close the gap against the high scoring profs.

The Scarlet Raiders return to action on Wednesday, February 15 for senior night when they close out their season against The College of New Jersey at 6:00 pm.
