Bowens & Salisbury Record Career-Highs on Senior Night Win Over TCNJ

NEWARK, NJ | The Scarlet Raiders men's basketball team honored their three seniors before tonight's season finale against The College of New Jersey. Jamir Patterson, Jordan Salisbury, and Tyrone Bowens were given commemorative pictures before their final home game of the season. The Scarlet Raiders closed their season in dominant fashion, taking down the Lions 68-48 behind Bowens' and Salisbury's career nights.

Bowens led the Scarlet Raiders with a career-high 20 points on 9-for-15 shooting while Salisbury added a career-high 14 points on 5-for-8 shooting. Levi Holton flew around the rim this evening and poured in 17 points.

Salisbury got his scoring started early when he put the Scarlet Raiders ahead by one with a corner three off of a pass from Shy'Heed Jenkins-Floyd. However, by the 10:39 mark, TCNJ had extended their lead to seven points over the Scarlet Raiders. The Lions continued to build on their lead and eventually led by as much as 10 before the Scarlet Raiders cut the lead down to five before the half.

Tonight's game was the tale of two halves as the Scarlet Raiders came out in the second half and defensively shut down the Lions, holding them to just 14 points while scoring 39 of their own. To open the second half, the Scarlet Raiders used a 15-5 run to grab hold of the lead. Once in the lead, Rutgers-Newark kept their foot on the gas and continued to electrify the crowd with dazzling plays at the rim. Holton slammed one home with 9:05 remaining to put the Scarlet Raiders up by 11 but TCNJ looked to be gaining steam when they cut the lead down to seven. Rutgers-Newark however remained stout and pushed the Lions back with another run to seal the 20-point victory to close out the season.
