Women's Soccer Drops Final Non-Conference Bout Before NJAC Play, 1-0

MADISON, NJ | The Rutgers University-Newark women's soccer squad suffered a 1-0 loss to FDU-Florham in its final tune-up before the start of New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play on Saturday.

Rutgers-Newark (4-4) tallied seven shots in the loss while FDU-Florham (6-2-1) rifled off 13 with four on frame.

The Scarlet Raiders were held to just two shots in the opening stanza while Katie McLaughlin was forced to make two saves in the first half. The action picked up in the second half as both teams increased their shot total with FDU-Florham finding a late goal. After 85 minutes of scoreless action, the Devils unlocked the code to the Rutgers-Newark vault and snuck one past McLaughlin for the game-winning goal.

Rutgers-Newark returns to action on Saturday, when they host Stockton at 7:00 pm.
