Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No Goals Scored in Men’s Soccer Game at Rutgers-Camden

CAMDEN, NJ | The Scarlet Raiders (6-4-2) were held scoreless, but managed to keep a clean sheet against a talented Rutgers-Camden (5-4-3) team. Final score: 0-0.

Erick Cortes continued his high energy from the previous week in which he scored five goals. He got a shot away in the first minute of play, pinging the ball off the post. Rutgers-Camden woke up after that and created a few opportunities of their own. Each team produced multiple corner kicks within the first 20 minutes, but neither side could turn those opportunities into shots on goal.

The game quieted down after the fiery initial exchanges - there were no shots in the final 24 minutes of the first half. They went into the break scoreless, each team searching for strategies to find the breakthrough.

The second half was much like the first 20 minutes - each team pushing hard to bag the opening goal - there were a combined seven shots and eleven corner kicks in the final 45. However, neither team could find that decisive moment.

What they could find, however, was yellow cards. The Scarlet Raiders amassed five bookings, and their opponents got a pair of their own. It was a fierce game and a close competition, and it ended with both teams sharing the points.

Men's soccer will resume action this Saturday, October 5th when they face William Paterson on the road. That game will take place in Wayne, NJ at 4:00 pm.
