Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Scarlet Raiders Swept as Rowan Comes Away Victorious in the Golden Dome

NEWARK, NJ | Rutgers-Newark women's volleyball (11-16) continue with their conference struggles after falling to Rowan (14-11) in straight sets, 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-19).

The first set started out evenly, and then Rowan started churning out points. They brought the score to 10-6 before there was another back-and-forth exchange. Eventually, the visitors took back the reins. Angelyse Orellana set up Bella Foster to break their run at 16-9, but there wasn't much else that Rutgers-Newark could do. The Profs closed out the opening set with a score of 25-13.

Rowan did not slow down after that—they jumped out 7-2 in the second set. The Scarlet Raiders answered back, breathing down their opponent's neck at 12-10. But the Profs once again established their advantage, pushing ahead 19-12. Rutgers-Newark took a timeout, but it wasn't enough to stop Rowan's roll. They never looked back, and the visitors doubled their set lead.

The Scarlet Raiders turned the tables on the Profs in set number three. They carved out a commanding 7-3 lead, keeping their opposition at bay as the set went on. The hosts grew their lead to six with a score of 15-9, and at this point Rowan took a timeout that seemed to turn the tide. After the break, the Profs put up eight straight points to flip the script and take the lead at 17-15. From there, they rode their momentum to complete a straight set win. Yet another deflating conference loss for Rutgers-Newark women's volleyball, as their NJAC record drops to 1-6.

The Scarlet Raiders return to action this Saturday, November 2nd in a non-conference tri-match. They face off against Medgar Evers and King's College at 11:00 am and 3:00 pm, respectively, right here in the Golden Dome.
