Four Different Scorers Guide Men's Soccer Past Farmingdale, 4-0

EWING, NJ | On the second day of the TCNJ Soccer Classic the Rutgers-Newark men's soccer team won its 3rd straight game with a 4-0 win over Farmingdale.

Rutgers-Newark (3-2) finished the game with 14 shots, putting six on frame. Farmingdale (2-2-1) rifled off 10 shots but only forced Khalid Kwaik to make one save.

The Scarlet Raiders wasted no time finding the back of the net against the Rams as Martin Pulgarin took a pass from Marco Menacho and slotted it past Anthony Martinez for the game's opening goal. Just two minutes later, Ian Brown doubled the Scarlet Raiders lead off of a pass from Jonah Dias. Brown later added an assist to the score sheet when he set up Darius Holmes for the game's 3rd goal.

As the second half began, Rutgers-Newark continued to pile on the pressure. Just minutes into the second stanza, Esteban Hidalgo added to the Scarlet Raiders' tally with a clinical finish, courtesy of a slick assist from Erick Morales, pushing the scoreline to 4-0. After Hidalgo's goal, the Rutgers-Newark offense shifted gears, focusing on maintaining control of the game. Though their attack slowed, the Scarlet Raiders comfortably held onto their commanding 4-0 lead, securing a dominant victory with a blend of sharp offensive execution and disciplined game management.

FROM HEAD COACH KEVIN EAST
"Playing back-to-back games is always difficult," said East. "We played several freshmen who performed well. Brown and Pulgarin both scored their first collegiate goals which is great for their confidence. It was a great weekend to keep building on with good defending and a pair of shutouts."

Up Next
Rutgers-Newark returns to action on Wednesday, September 11 when they St. Davids, PA to take on non-conference foes Eastern University at 4:00 pm.
