Immaculata, PA – The Rutgers-Newark women's volleyball team fell in straight sets to Immaculata University on Friday evening, 27-25, 25-19, 25-18.
The Raiders battled hard in the opening set, exchanging points with the Mighty Macs throughout. Rutgers-Newark held the lead late, but Immaculata capitalized on a few key errors to edge out the frame 27-25.
In the second set, the hosts built early momentum and maintained control with strong serving and net play. Despite a solid effort from the Raiders, Immaculata's consistent attack allowed them to take the set 25-19.
Rutgers-Newark tried to rally in the third, but Immaculata's offense proved too much as the Mighty Macs closed out the match 25-18.
Cyan Long led the Scarlet Raiders with 10 kills and 13 digs, while Shayla Moody-Santos added nine kills. Algelyse Orellana chipped in 15 assists and six digs.
The Raiders will have a quick turnaround as they return to action tomorrow for a tri-match against Gwynedd Mercy and Marywood.
