Galloway, NJ – The Rutgers–Newark men's soccer team fell 2-0 on the road to Stockton University on Wednesday night in NJAC action.
Stockton struck early in the 10th minute when Ernst Louisius found the back of the net off an assist from Kieran Sundermann to give the Ospreys an early advantage. Despite several first-half chances, the Scarlet Raiders were unable to convert and entered halftime trailing 1-0.
In the second half, Rutgers–Newark continued to battle but was forced to play down a man after Jake Milne received a red card in the 56th minute. Stockton capitalized on the advantage in the 71st minute when Thomas Trimble scored to double the lead, assisted by Uche Wokocha.
The Scarlet Raiders finished with seven shots, including three on goal, while the Ospreys recorded 18 shots with eight on target. Rutgers–Newark held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks, but Stockton's pressure and possession limited their scoring opportunities.
With the loss the Scarlet Raiders fall to 7-8-2 and 1-5-1 in conference play and are eliminated from NJAC playoff contention.
