Newark, NJ – On October 25, 2025, Rutgers University–Newark's men's soccer team celebrated Senior Day and Homecoming with a commanding 5–1 victory over New Jersey City University (NJCU) at Frederick Douglass Field. The match honored the team's seniors: Pedro Flores (#1), Gerson Gonzalez-Quevedo (#6), Jake Milne (#9), Pablo Moreno (#10), Esteban Hidalgo (#11), and Chris Osorio-Rodriguez (#14). These players have been integral to the team's success, contributing both on and off the field throughout their careers.
NJCU struck early lead in the 10th minute with a goal from Augusto Vieira but it would be all Scarlet Raiders after that. In the 37th minute, Esteban Hidalgo hit the equalizer, assisted by Pablo Moreno. Just minutes later, in the 40th minute, Ethan Geronimo scored, assisted by Nicholas Calenicoff and Erick Cortes, giving Rutgers-Newark a 2–1 lead at halftime.
The second half saw the Scarlet Raiders extend their lead. Erick Cortes scored in the 64th minute, followed by Chris Osorio-Rodriguez, who netted two goals in the 76th and 87th minutes, the latter assisted by Edgar Silva.
The victory improved Rutgers-Newark's record to 8–8–2 overall and 2–5–1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), while NJCU fell to 4–10–4 and 1–5–2 in the NJAC.
