Newark, NJ – Rutgers–Newark opened the first day of the John K. Adams Tip-Off Classic with a 95–74 victory over Saint Elizabeth, setting the tone early inside the Golden Dome. The Scarlet Raiders built a 46–35 halftime lead and clamped down defensively in the second half, holding Saint Elizabeth to just 35% shooting while limiting their three-point attempts.
Rutgers–Newark maintained their double-digit advantage behind balanced scoring and consistent defensive pressure. The Raiders shot 50% from the field and capitalized in transition, while Saint Elizabeth struggled from deep, finishing 5-for-23 from three-point range.
Freshman Raheem Murray made an immediate impact in his first action at the Golden Dome, leading the way with 23 points. Ayden Brown recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Greg Jones had a strong night from the line, contributing 15 points to help Rutgers–Newark dominate the paint and control the lead.
