Tough Road Loss for Scarlet Raiders

NEW HAVEN, CT — Rutgers-Newark found itself in trouble early, falling behind 13–3 in the opening minutes as three turnovers in the first five minutes gave Albertus Magnus extra opportunities to push the pace. The Scarlet Raiders struggled to settle in on the road, and the Falcons capitalized immediately in front of their home crowd.

Cold shooting only deepened the early hole. Rutgers-Newark managed just 6-for-31 from the field in the first half and 1-for-11 from three, allowing Albertus Magnus to stretch its lead to 50–26 heading into halftime.

The Scarlet Raiders showed more life after the break, knocking down seven three-pointers and improving their offensive rhythm, but the gap was too much to close. Albertus Magnus continued its efficient shooting throughout, hitting on 52.4% of their shots and ultimately handed Rutgers-Newark a 95–71 defeat.

Ayden Brown led the Scarlet Raiders with 16 points and six rebounds, while CJ Karris racked up a few threes in limited minutes on his way to 13 points. Despite a stronger second half, the early miscues and cold start in New Haven proved too much to overcome.
