Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Rutgers – Newark Struggles in a Road Loss at Stockton University

GALLOWAY, NJ — The Rutgers-Newark women's basketball team was unable to find their rhythm on the road Saturday, falling to Stockton University, 55-35, in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) action.

The Scarlet Raiders (3-17, 0-13 NJAC) never led in the game and struggled to keep pace with Stockton (10-10, 6-7 NJAC), who held them to just 12 points in the first half en route to a comfortable victory.

From the opening tip, Stockton's defense proved stifling as they forced Rutgers-Newark into a series of tough shots and turnovers. The Raiders shot just 20% from the field in the first half, and despite several solid efforts from Quanajah Felder and Raihanna Abdus-Salaam, they found themselves down 31-12 at the break. Stockton's suffocating defense was complemented by a well-balanced offensive attack, as the Ospreys took advantage of the Raiders' struggles to build a commanding lead.

While Rutgers-Newark showed more fight in the second half, scoring 23 points to Stockton's 24 in the final two quarters, the deficit proved too large to overcome. Felder led the Raiders in scoring with 12 points and seven rebounds, but the team was unable to find consistent offense against Stockton's physicality.

Stockton, on the other hand, continued to capitalize on Rutgers-Newark's mistakes, with Katie Rausch scoring 19 points and ChiChi Wokocha contributing 12 points and 13 rebounds. The Ospreys were efficient on both ends to capture the win.

Rutgers-Newark returns home to face William Paterson on Wednesday at 6 PM at The Golden Dome.
