Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Falls to TCNJ Away from Home

EWING, NJ | Travis Miles hit his career high in points with 21, but it wasn't enough to take down the Lions (17-5) on their home court. The Scarlet Raiders (6-16) lost by a score of 73-58.

TCNJ were in control from the very start. David Alexandre gave them an 8-0 early lead with a three pointer just over 90 seconds into the game.

It took some time, but Rutgers-Newark did eventually settle in. Levi Holton sank one from range eight minutes into the game to bring the Scarlet Raiders within a point at 16-15.

The Lions did not let go of their lead. They stifled the Scarlet Raiders' scoring and were up eight again with just under eight minutes to go in the first half. But the visitors did their thing once again, and went to work closing the gap. Travis Miles tipped one in just before the halftime buzzer to make it 36-34 in favor of the home team at the break.

The visitors began the second period by drawing level for the first time, but the hosts did not let that last for long. In less than five minutes they were ahead by 11, and they simply never looked back.

The difference ebbed and flowed as the half wore on, but Rutgers-Newark never got within one possession again. The lead ballooned in the closing stages of the game, and the Lions walked away with a 15 point victory.

Men's Basketball will head back to the Golden Dome this Wednesday, February 12th. They will host Ramapo with an 8:00 PM start time.
