Rutgers-Newark Women's Track & Field Highlights Day 2 at Ramapo Invitational

The Rutgers-Newark women's track & field team concluded Day 2 of the Ramapo Invitational with strong performances across multiple events, highlighted by impressive results from the field and the track.

In the women's discus throw, Fejiro Akiri continued to showcase her strength and consistency, placing fourth overall with a solid throw of 42.22 meters (138-06). Not only was she the top Division III finisher in the event, but her mark helped her stand out among a competitive field of athletes. Akiri's performance exemplified her skill and determination, underscoring her ability to compete at a high level within the field events.

Shanil Auguste also had a notable showing in the discus, finishing in 10th place with a throw of 26.77 meters (87-10). While not a podium finish, Auguste's result helped add to the team's overall presence in the competition, contributing valuable points for Rutgers-Newark.

On the track, Barakat Adenjiri and Zoe Francis-Bunkley represented the Scarlet Raiders in the 100-meter dash. Both athletes displayed impressive speed and determination, competing in a high-caliber field of sprinters. 

As the Ramapo Invitational continues to serve as a key event in the season for Rutgers-Newark, the performances on Day 2 highlighted both individual talent and the team's ability to compete at a high level in a variety of events. The Scarlet Raiders are looking ahead to continued improvements and strong showings in future competitions.
