Women’s Track & Field Opens Outdoor Campaign at Ramapo Invitational

MAHWAH, NJ - The Rutgers-Newark women's track and field team kicked off their outdoor season at the Ramapo Invitational, showcasing strong performances across multiple events.

Fejiro Akiri led the way for the Scarlet Raiders, dominating the shot put competition. Akiri's winning throw of 11.86 meters (38-11.00) secured first place, showcasing her strength and consistency to start the season on a high note. Teammate Shanil Auguste also had an impressive showing in the event, taking third place with a solid mark of 11.00 meters (36-01.25).

In the javelin, Cherron Hackshaw represented the team with a throw of 16.11 meters (52-10), which placed her in the competitive field for the event.

On the track, Morgan Marckres delivered a strong performance in the 10,000 meters, finishing in fourth place with a time of 41:00.03. Her effort was a testament to her endurance and determination, as she battled through a competitive field to secure a top-five finish.

Overall, the meet was a successful start to the outdoor season for the Rutgers-Newark women's track and field team, with standout performances in both the throwing and running events.
