Ewing, N.J. — Rutgers–Newark fell to The College of New Jersey, 82–62, in NJAC women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon. The Scarlet Raiders stayed within striking distance early but were unable to overcome TCNJ's strong second-half push.
The College of New Jersey opened the game on a 7–0 run before Rutgers–Newark settled in and responded late in the first quarter. closing the period trailing just 20–16.
TCNJ regained control in the second quarter, using a decisive 10–0 run to create separation and take a 43–34 lead into halftime. That momentum carried into the second half as Rutgers–Newark was unable to cut into the deficit. Despite continued effort on both ends, the Scarlet Raiders could not make up ground, and TCNJ maintained control throughout the final two quarters to secure an 82–62 victory.
Sanaa Brodie led the Scarlet Raiders with a season high 23 points on 8-11 shooting and added six rebounds.
Rutgers-Newark will look to get back on track next Wednesday as they return to the Golden Dome to host Kean in another NJAC matchup.
