NEWARK, NJ — Rutgers-Newark fell to Rutgers-Camden, 62–47, in an NJAC matchup at the Golden Dome on Tuesday night.
The Scarlet Raiders worked to establish rhythm early, but Rutgers-Camden capitalized on mistakes, scoring 19 points off turnovers in the first half to control the pace of play. That advantage helped Camden build a 29–21 lead at the break, as Newark struggled to find consistency on the offensive end.
Rutgers-Newark looked to make a push coming out of halftime, but an early 8–0 run by Camden in the opening minutes of the second half pushed the lead into a more comfortable margin. Despite continued effort from the Raiders, Newark was unable to make up ground as Camden answered each attempt to close the gap.
Freshman Raheem Murray led Rutgers-Newark with 15 points and Preston Brown added nine points off the bench.
The Scarlet Raiders will look to regroup as they prepare for their next NJAC matchup against Montclair State this weekend.
