NEWARK, N.J. — Rutgers-Newark dropped a 3-0 NJAC decision to William Paterson on Tuesday night at The Golden Dome, falling 25-14, 25-11 and 25-15. The Scarlet Raiders move to 6-7 overall and 0-4 in NJAC play.
William Paterson took control early in the opening set, pulling away from a close start to take a 25-14 victory. The Pioneers carried that momentum into the second set, building an early advantage before closing out the frame, 25-11.
The third set was the most competitive of the night. The teams battled through several ties early, with the score even at 10-10 and 11-11. Rutgers-Newark pulled within one at 15-14 before William Paterson closed the match on a 10-1 run to secure the 25-15 victory.
Cyan Long led the Scarlet Raiders with 15 digs, while Jaedyn Simba-Malasarte added 11 digs. Bella Foster recorded four total blocks, including two solo blocks, while Tracey Ilderis and Shayla Moody each contributed two blocks.
Rutgers-Newark returns home to Newark, N.J., on Friday, October 9, when it hosts Stevens at The Golden Dome.
