Early Battle Gives Way as Rutgers–Newark Falls at William Paterson

WAYNE, N.J. – Rutgers–Newark fell to William Paterson, 97–49, on Tuesday night as the Pioneers pulled away to secure the victory.

The Scarlet Raiders kept the game close in the opening quarter, trailing just 24–18 after the first 10 minutes of play.

Shooting woes in the second quarter proved costly for Rutgers–Newark, as the Scarlet Raiders shot just 18.75 percent in the period, allowing William Paterson to build a double-digit lead heading into halftime.

William Paterson came out of the break scorching and put the game out of reach by outscoring Rutgers–Newark 37–10 in the third quarter before coasting to the 97–49 victory.

Rutgers–Newark was led by Quanajah Felder and Sanaa Brodie with 13 points apiece, while Brodie also added five steals on the night.

Rutgers–Newark will return to the Golden Dome on Saturday when it welcomes TCNJ to the Golden Dome as conference play continues.
