Igwe Shines on Day 2 of Ramapo Invitational

MAHWAH, N.J. — The Rutgers-Newark track and field teams wrapped up competition at the Ramapo Invitational on Saturday, with the women finishing 14th overall and the men placing 22nd.

On the women's side, Chidimma Igwe turned in a strong sprint performance, finishing third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.92. Christine Pierre-Louis added a 17th-place finish in the discus throw with a mark of 25.32 meters, while Fejiro Akiri competed in the hammer throw, placing 10th.

For the men, Jaidyn Johnson led the way on the track with a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing in 59.88. Ralph Atorkui also competed in the 400 meters, placing 19th with a time of 53.74.

In the field events, Azor Chareyre recorded a 13th-place finish in the discus throw with a mark of 34.72 meters. Babacar Halsey contributed in the jumps, placing 10th in the triple jump (12.26 meters) and 20th in the long jump (5.58 meters).
