NEWARK, N.J. – The Scarlet Raiders fell in their double header home opener to William Paterson 18-0 and 6-1.
In the first game the Scarlet Raiders recorded four hits, with Kristin Kloss highlighting the offense with a double, while Janiyah Smith and Brooke Hilton each added singles to spark brief momentum. Despite putting runners on base in multiple innings, Rutgers-Newark was unable to capitalize, leaving five runners stranded.
During the second game of the night, the Pioneers were able to hold the Raiders again. Despite a late-inning push and a disciplined performance at the plate that drew nine walks, the Scarlet Raiders were unable to overcome an early deficit. Fight was shown late in the game with more base runners and a Destiny Maury double, but the Raiders were unable to capitalize.
